No Need Paying Third-Party App Developers – Learn How To Set Up A Facebook Store Step-By-Step
Facebook has over 1.71 billion active users every single month. It is even hard to imagine numbers like that. People still love Facebook and it does not seem to change any time soon.
If you have an e-Commerce store, or are thinking of building one, it would be a shame to not take advantage of Facebook’s enormous traffic that can be potential customers to your store.
Of course, not all of Facebook’s users are going to be your potential customer, but even if just a micro fraction of that massive number would buy something from your store, it would be a huge sale for you!
Facebook Is Still Growing Quite Rapidly So Your Base Of Potential Customers Is Also Growing
I highly recommend that you take advantage of Facebook’s store feature and add it to your Facebook page if you want to sell physical products.
Facebook could not be less modern than any big e-Commerce platform, like Shopify, BigCommerce, or WordPress WooCommerce. Of course, they will continue to expand such a successful community.
However, to set up a Facebook store you have to have a Facebook business page. You cannot add a store to a personal Facebook account. To learn how to set up a Facebook business page, you can visit Facebook’s help center.
Facebook’s store function is still not available for all countries but will be in the near future. This manual is displaying the process of setting up a Facebook store in the U.S.
What Is A Shop Feature On My Facebook Page?
The shop section is a tab you can add to your business page which allows you to showcase and sell your products directly from your Facebook page (see manual further down). This function is ideal for merchants, retail, and e-Commerce advertisers who want to reach customers on Facebook.
Who Would Not Want To Take Advantage Of Facebook’s Traffic
Best of all, Facebook’s store feature is totally FREE to use.
What Can You Sell With Your Facebook Store?
Facebook allows you to sell physical products in your store. Before uploading your products, make sure that they comply with Facebook’s content guidelines.
You cannot sell things like services or digital goods through your Facebook store.
Store Features For U.S. Facebook Stores
When creating a business page in the U.S., you will have the following store features:
#1. Uploading Your Products
Upload your products to your store section on your Facebook page. You can upload your products one by one and there is no limit on how many products you can sell.
You do not need to have a preexisting product catalog uploaded anywhere beforehand.
#2. Curate And Customize Your Store’s Inventory
If you have many products and are selling for example clothing, shoes, jewelry, and so forth, you can divide your products into different collections.
#3. Sell Directly From Your Page
Once your products are uploaded, your customers can browse and buy them on any device without having to leave your page.
#4. Manage Orders
Mark orders as shipped, cancel orders, or make refunds without leaving your page. The functionality is all there.
#5. Get Purchase Insights
Get valuable purchase statistics directly from your store. See the number of views, clicks, and purchases for each product. Also, how much money you have earned from each product.
Step-By-Step Manual On How To Set Up Facebook Store
Here follows a step-by-step manual on how to add a store feature to your Facebook page that allows your customers to buy and check out right from the Facebook Page:
Step 1. Go to your Facebook page (remember it has to be a business page) and click on the “Shop” icon to the left.
Step 2. Read the Merchant Terms and Policies and check the box and click continue.
Step 3. Here you have two options to either build your e-Commerce store on your actual page or direct your Facebook customers to another e-Commerce platform. You may already have a webshop that you want to direct customers to.
In this manual we are building the store on our Facebook page so click that option and click continue.
Step 4.
Step 5. In step 4, 5, and 6 we are connecting our store with either stripe or PayPal. I have never used stripe, but I am always using PayPal, which works fantastic.
Using PayPal is adding safety for both the seller and the customer. As a seller, you will have to pay a small fee for each sale. Nothing major, but it feels good to know you have insurance if something would go wrong during the paying process.
If you have a PayPal account already, you type in your email connected to PayPal in the “Get started” field. Then choose your country and click next.
Step 6. Click “Agree and Connect” and your store is now connected to PayPal.
As simple as that!
After clicking this button, you will be directed back to your store where you can fill in your address information. When this is done, click the submit button.
Step 7. Write a short introduction about your store and then click “Add Products”.
Step 8. Now it is time to fill in all information about your product: Name, price (discounted price if your product is on sale – just flip the button for this option), product description, how many products you have (your inventory), and shipping cost.
You can choose to share the store and your products automatically by flipping the button on top of “Inventory”.
Step 9. If you are selling clothing, shoes, watches, etc. that are all different brands, you can create different collections.
Pretty cool! Facebook has it all covered.
Now you have your own Facebook store set up and you can target your Facebook customers and create unlimited revenue. Not so difficult right?
You do not have to waste money paying a third-party developer to build your Facebook store. It is as simple as this and takes two minutes!
Good Pointers When Selling On Facebook
How To Build Trust With Your Customers
Create A Facebook Page Username
I would guess you have done this already when creating your business page, but if not, I highly recommend doing this.
A page username is the name that people can search for to easily find your page. Each page username can only be claimed by one page so your username is unique. Try to create the same username as your company name and URL (website address). This is also good for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) purposes.
Respond Quickly To Inquiries
Swift responses to messages from customers build trust and show customers you value them. If they do not get an answer for hours and hours they may not think your store is legit.
Swift responses also increase the responsiveness rating displayed on your Facebook page. If potential customers see that you are very responsive, they are more likely to reach out and view you more positively overall.
Encourage Customers To Leave Reviews
There are not enough words to describe how important reviews are for any business. Nowadays, people are Googling reviews before almost any purchase.
There is a genuine feeling of safety for customers to make purchases after reading what other people think about the product. They know it will eliminate many unnecessary product returns because the product did not live up to expectations. Now they can judge by other customers’ opinions and get a clearer view.
Facebook’s store feature is already set up with a rating and review section, where customers can leave feedback about their purchase. Obviously, a high rating and positive reviews build trust and can also lead to more interest among potential customers as well.
There is no wrong asking for a review after a customer has made a purchase. Wait for about a week and then ask if they are happy with the product. If not, you will have a chance to solve the situation and make it better to avoid a possible bad review.
Add An Address To Your Physical Store
If you have a physical store there is always good to add that address. Not only does it feel safe to know that the store exists somewhere else but a positive experience from your Facebook shop can increase the likelihood that a customer will come to your physical store.
It can also make your business more tangible to people who are skeptical of the internet.
Increase Awareness Of Your Store And Products
Share Your Products On Your Timeline
Adding a product to your store is not the same as sharing it to your timeline. Once you have uploaded a new product, make it a habit of sharing it to make customers more aware that you have a store and what you are selling. You want the products to show up in their news feeds.
Facebook also has the option to advertise and boost your products. If you feel your store needs a push to gain more visibility, this can be an option.
However, I must say that I have become skeptical about Facebook advertising. I have been running Facebook campaigns for clients with my marketing/web design business, Face It Design & Marketing LLC, as well as for myself, and the number of views and engagement never follows the website statistics.
If you do not know how to efficiently convert ad traffic to actual customers, I would stay away. It will drain your wallet otherwise.
If you are marketing your website on Facebook, for example, you should see an increase in website traffic. With Google Analytics software, you can see exactly how many website visitors are coming from your social media page.
Anything more than the usual traffic coming from Facebook has never been the case for me. In fact, I have hardly seen an increase in traffic during my campaigns, and definitely NOT the thousands of visitors like the Facebook statistics are showing. I believe Facebook has to look into their analytics a bit better and not give those “happy numbers” with not much content behind them.
I am sorry to end this manual on a bit sour note but I want to share my honest experience with Facebook in general. If I can help you to not waste money on something that is not 100 percent beneficial, I am happy and have served my purpose with this website.
On a more positive note, I give Facebook’s store or shop function the highest rating. It is very easy to set up and looks professional.
The fact that the store functionality is for FREE is a huge plus.
I hope I have given you some clarification on how to set up a Facebook store and showed you how to best leverage the enormous potential of Facebook’s web traffic.
If you have any questions about this manual, or if you get stuck setting up your Facebook store, please let me know in the comment section below and I will help out as soon as I can.
If you found this guide useful, please show some love and share it with your network.

Hi there, thank you very much for your detailed step by step guide to create a FB page, this will be a very great piece of article for people like me that just starting out with advertising through FB.
I understand fully all of the points you mentioned above, but my greater concern is to draw enough people to my FB page and actually starts selling from the FB page.
What is your recommendation? How to acquire as much traffic as possible to my FB store if I start from zero follower/liker.
Thanks
Hi Habil,
thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it! I’m glad it was useful.
Well, that is a concern for sure. It’s getting harder and harder to get anyone to like your page on Facebook. I think it’s a result of people not wanting to have too much in their news feed. Maybe because of those that are completely spamming people’s news feed after they have liked their page. I have struggled with Facebook for the last year, working for myself, and clients with my marketing business.
What you can do is to add this Facebook comment plugin to your website: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/comme…
It makes it easier for people from Facebook to engage, which can lead them to later go back liking your actual Facebook page.
You can also use Facebook advertising and create campaigns, or boost your posts, but that cost money and I have personally not been seeing any good results from it. Hardly any new page likes either. It seems like the page likes you’re getting is from people that really enjoy your posts and it will take time to work up a good number.
There is a huge market for buying page likes and followers, and you can bet that most businesses with thousands of likes have bought a good amount of them. When buying your likes and followers, you will have very little engagement on your content though, which can look a bit obvious.
I hope this helped you out a bit? Let me know if you have more questions. I would love to assist.
Best wishes,
Stina
Wow Stain…this was a super informative article, i’m trying to start my own online business currently and when the time comes I am definitely thinking of moving over to Facebook to do this. Thanks for the in depth article…if you have any advice for newbies like me that’d be much appreciated, especially since you seem to be very successful.
Hi Christian,
thanks so much for your kind feedback! It makes me glad to know the manual was useful and a good read.
That’s great news that you’re starting your own business online. You won’t regret it! Thanks for believing in me btw. The advice I would give you is to stay focused and continue creating good content. One of the most crucial factors in making affiliate sales, regular product sales, or service sales are traffic. If we don’t have it, no one will know and find what we offer. The more content you write, the closer you get to building an authority website and start making the “BIG BUCKS”. Stay patient and on track!
I wish you all the best of success with your business! Stay in touch and tell me how it goes. Also, let me know if I can help you with anything else.
Cheers,
Stina
