In this hour of writing I am sitting in Florida’s airport, in Fort Lauderdale, at the gate waiting on boarding my flight to Stockholm, Sweden. I have mixed feelings. One part of me feels sad with a knot in my stomach for leaving my babies, Max and Abigail, behind, and another part of me is excited to come home and meet my family and friends.

I know I am overly fussy and silly about my dogs, and I know they will have a great time with a friend of mine, who has come to stay at the house to pay full attention to them; take them out to parks, playtime in the back yard etc. But still, I am so attached to them and they are my family in Miami, so my heart is hurting right now.

I also feel excitement to come home again after this time. I wonder how things have changed? Have my friends changed? We have probably matured all of us, but maybe in different directions. Hopefully not apart from each other. I mean, they all have children and are living the family life and I am the adventurous type, who has yet not settled down. I wonder if I ever will? I hope so.

In a way I do feel settled. I feel grounded where I am right now in the U.S., and I love my house and career. I love spending time at home and out in nature parks with my babies, and feel happy for what I have, so in that way I am settled.

However, not in that sense that I want to start a family with “real” children – not just the furry ones^^.  I hope you can be settled anyway.

Back to my friends, I wonder how they will feel about me now? How will I feel seeing them again after so long…? Many thoughts and emotions are going through my head.

I feel happy to meet my dear family. I have been blessed to have my parents coming to visit me in Miami every year, but now it is about time for me to take this long journey back home. Not more than fair, because the flight is tough.

What To Do When Flying Long Distance?

Like mentioned, the flight is the most dreadful. When it comes to making the trip, I surely understand that I am living on the other side of the globe from Sweden. I am so grateful that my parents have done this dreadful flight when I could not go home and visit.

My First Visit Home to Sweden in Almost 4 Years - Make a Living from Home in 2017I had to wait for my papers and travel permit to get finalized for almost 2 years. During that time I could not leave the U.S. because of the fact that they probably would not let me back in, when returning.

If you have been in the U.S. or Sweden, you know that the flight takes a minimum of 10 hours (if you are lucky and can travel one way straight). Often, you have to land in-between and switch flights, and you are forced to stay up in the air for 15 to 19 hours.

Yup, 19 hours was the longest of the travels I have ever done, and it was horrible. My body had enough already after 5 hours, so the rest of the journey was pretty much a terror. My butt and lower back were aching, and I was so restless just sitting still. Normally, I only sit for maximum 2 hours at a time.

I am actually up in the air as we “speak”. It is heavy turbulence, so it is hard to type on the keyboard from time to time. I am starting to feel a bit nauseous. I hope it will go away soon. I cannot stand the feeling of being sick.

They have started to prepare dinner, I can smell it – euuhh, not now please! I am going to throw up!

I am car sick if I do not drive the car myself, and sea sick as well, so this rocky plan ride is not want I wish for right now.

To my despair, this flight does not have WiFi. I cannot believe it! I have not been flying for 3.5 years, but I thought all flights had WiFi by now. Can it be because of 911, or why does not a long flight like this have it to make time go faster?

I was planning on working for some hours at least. Luckily, I can still type and prepare this blog post in a simple Word document.

Oh my… my butt is starting to hurt already with 8.5 hours left to go. I think that most butts (behinds) – especially mine – are not prone to sit on for too long. I was born to be active and run around, not to sit for hours.

So, what do you do on a long flight?

Well, you can watch movies, and you can watch movies, and you can watch some more movies. If you are lucky, you may read a book that you brought with you. Remembering to bring a book was my only task before I left, and I failed, big time.

Of course I did not remember about the book until loading off my carry-on from the trunk already at the airport. That is my memory level and capability to focus on a day like this – equals to zero.

Have Dogs? Make A Smooth Exit
From Home

⇐ My precious babies, Abigail and Max.

My thoughts were caught up on planning the best, most natural departure from the house without getting my babies too stressed about me leaving.

They normally get stressed enough when I am only making a short trip to the grocery store. Always trying their best to push passed the door to go with me.

Many times they do succeed, since I pretty much take them everywhere I go. They hate when I leave them alone, like most dogs do.

What I did, already this morning, was to hide the suitcase in the garage while they were caught up eating their breakfast. In that way, they would not see me bringing extra luggage that would make them understand that I would go away for longer than normal.

I think most dog owners can agree with me on the stress and anxious level that comes with packing a suitcase. Those that claim that dogs are not smart enough to understand this, and do not have any concept of time, I strongly oppose.

My first dog got upset with me if I had been away for more than 3 days and ignored me when I first came back. Luckily, only for a short period. After a while, he could not help displaying happiness that I was back home. If I was away only for hours, he was happy to see me every time.

Browsing Sweden For Country Unique Products To Sell On Amazon

My visit to Sweden is not just a vacation and I am not planning to lay on the lazy side. My plan is to browse around in Swedish stores, and find good products to possible sell on Amazon.

There are many products that are unique for Sweden that may sell well on the U.S. market, and the other way around.

If you have followed my blog earlier, you probably know that we recently got our first private label product sourced from China to the U.S. marketplace on Amazon. We have already got some sales, and will probably expand to the European marketplace in the near future as well.

Becoming this private label seller on Amazon is very exciting, and I have high hopes for it. If you find the right high demand product with not too much competition there is no limit to how much you can sell with the Amazon giant.

Bluntly speaking, it would be stupid to not leverage Amazon’s already established traffic.

Make Money Online As An
Amazon Affiliate

My First Visit Home to Sweden in Almost 4 Years - Make a Living from Home in 2017Another way to make money with Amazon, is through their Amazon Associate Program. The basic concept of this program is that you are earning a commission each time someone buys a product on Amazon from your recommendation.

In other words, you are selling products from Amazon (already established products) and get a commission for doing so. No need for a warehouse to stock up products, and costly marketing efforts for branding.

The trick with selling/marketing products as an affiliate, is to offer good information to customers that will help them solve a problem. You should not focus on selling the product too hard, and direct on your site, but to offer value and trust to the visitor. The goal is to get them to purchase products off of your recommendation and informational content.

      Hi John,
nice to hear from you! Thanks for your comment!
Good to hear that you’re a fellow WA member:-)
Yes, I have lots of fun meeting old friends and family besides my research. I have already found a few products that are country specific that may be good to sell on each marketplace, but I need to investigate it further first.
Best of luck to you and thanks again for stopping by my blog!
